SaloneSatellite, the jewel of the Salone del Mobile in Milano from the 16th to the 21st of April 2024. The first ever event that has given special attention to young designers. It became the place of excellence for talent scouts, entrepreneurs and the most promising designers. Marva Griffin Wilshire - who is the curator of the event - created it in 1968 as a sign of confidence in creatives younger than 35. Many prototypes from previous editions are now in production, and the 14,000 designers who took part along with the 270 international design school have made a name for themselves on the design scene. This visionary hub, an outpost of creativity ruled by experimentation from the beginning and the courage of those who leave college to venture into the big bad World, explores the world of design of the future. Edition after edition it reflects on how to approach the challenges of tomorrow from a design perspective. Young designers will guide us in an era of radical changes to the environment, economy and social balances. The SaloneSatellite Award recognizes three of the most egregious projects each year and awards up to two honourable mentions. The prototypes of all the competitors are evaluated by an international jury, and then displayed in a collective exhibition. SaloneSatellite will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a large exhibit at the Triennale di Milano in 2024. Designers who were first met on the cusp their careers, will showcase their most recent project, whether it is already in production.
